The biggest car dealer in the Isle of Man has installed eight charging bays for electric vehicles.
The points, at Jacksons and Motor Mall on Cooil Road on the outskirts of Douglas, charge three times more quickly than the current 7kWh public charging points located around the island, and at the same cost of £0.19p per kWh.
The public bays are near the Motor Mall showroom on the left.
Motor Mall head of business Jon Williams said: ’As a business that represents 24 of the world’s major motoring brands, most now with electric cars and vans in their model line ups, we have invested heavily in our EV [electric vehicles] infrastructure, from manufacturer trained EV servicing to on site EV charging.
’Now, with the rapidly increasing on-island sales of electric vehicles, we felt it the right time to offer a major, rapid charge station for all island EV drivers.’
The site will open 24 hours a day and there are multiple ways the public can make use of the site.
There is a free shuttle service from Jacksons into Douglas at 8.30am and 9.30am every weekday morning plus there is a bus stop right outside Jacksons that can be used.
