Island businessman Trevor Hemmings was celebrating this afternoon (Tuesday) after one of his horses was a winner on the first day of the Cheltenham Festival.

Vintage Clouds won the Ultima Handicap Chase, the third race on the card at the Gloucestershire track.

Mr Hemmings watched the three mile race on television from his base in the north of the island.

The 11-year-old grey, trained in Yorkshire by Sue Smith, and ridden by Ryan Mania, was a 28-to-one winner.

Vintage Clouds was running in the race for the fourth year in succession.

Mr Hemmings is bidding for a fourth win as an owner in the Grand National next month and Cloth Cap is currently the favourite.
