This week’s nostalgia column features the Granville Hotel team that enjoyed an excellent run of success in the Douglas and District pool league in the 1980s.

The team regularly competed for the top honours in the local game during that era.

One of the familiar faces in the photo is Tommy Crowe who more latterly has been a football referee in the island.

He said of the team: ‘I think we won the league 14 years on the bounce and the Jack Karran Trophy (for Champion of Champions) at least 10 years on the bounce before we moved onto the Rosemount and other places.’

Pictured are (back row from left to right) Clive ??, ??, Kevin ??, Trevor Peace, Bernie King and Graham ??.

(Front row, l-r) Tony Cairney, Tracey, Billy Crowe, Brian Bodell, Tommy Crowe and John Cairney.
